2010 Stand Tall Scholars
Adam Beasley

College: Samford University, Birmingham, AL
Major: Biology
Adam is a founding member of Samford Crew, est. 2010, and is currently serving as president. He is an associate member of the pre-health society Alpha Epsilon Delta and a member of the Biology honor society Beta Beta Beta. Adam was also inducted into the National Academic Honor Society for Freshman Alpha Lambda Delta with a 3.76 GPA.
Michael Braud

College: Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA
Major: Pre-Nursing
Michael was selected as a LSU Ambassador. He has volunteered at multiple events and orienting new students during the Summer Orientation and Spring Invitational. He volunteered in Relay for Life, Buddy Walk, Race for the Cure and Habitat for Humanity. Michael is doing well academically, loving his classes and has made the Dean's List during his first semester at LSU.
Brittany Bruhl
College: Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA
Major: Kinesiology - Human Movement/Pre-Med
As a freshman, Brittany was selected as America's Favorite Homecoming Queen 2010, an additional scholarship opportunity. Brittanny competed against other high school homecoming queens representing other states. At LSU, Brittany has been active in the local community, volunteering at Boys Hope Girls Hope and Habitat for Humanity. She collected Pink Lids for Breast Cancer awareness, helped ro collect thousands of cans as donations for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank during CANapalooza and fundraised for Children's Miracle Network and American Heart Association. Her hobbies/honors includes: Phi Mu Sorority, Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity and National Society of Leadership and Success at LSU.
Brad Hewitt

College: Texas A&M University, College Station, TX
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Brad is a Presidential Endowed Scholar at Texas A&M where he is studying mechanical engineering in Texas A&M's Honors Program. He was selected to be a member of the MSC Aggie Leaders of Tomorrow organization where he has had the opportunity to develop his leadership skills in a number of community service events. Brad organized a canned food drive at Halloween for a local food bank, participated in a mission trip to Houston to work with underpriviledged children. He also organized an Angel Tree gift giveaway at Christmas and particpated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Brad is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and worked last summer as a drilling engineering intern for an oil company. In his free time, Brad enjoys playing basketball, weight lifting, watcing & attending NBA basketball games and attending Aggie athletic events. Gig 'Em Aggies!
Mary Zar
College: Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, LA
Major: Criminal Justice
Mary is still very involved in the Slidell Soup Kitchen as she has been for many years. While maintaining a full class schedule as a freshman and working approximately 30 hours per week as Pre-K Teacher's assistant, Mary is still maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
2010 Stand Tall Scholars

- Adam Charles Beasley, son of Charles and Laura Beasley. A graduate of Fontainebleau High School, he will attend Samford University in Birmingham, AL, where he plans to major in biology.
- Michael Edward Braud, son of James and Theresa Braud, is a graduate of Slidell High School, and will attend Louisiana State University to study architecture.
- Brittany Anna Bruhl, daughter of Tommy and Theresa Bruhl, is a graduate of Covington High School, and will attend LSU with a major in kinesiology.
- Bradley Thomas Hewitt, son of Stan and Sharon Hewitt, is a graduate of Northshore High School, and will attend Texas A&M to study mechanical engineering.
- Mary Ann Zar, daughter of Patricia Benson and Warren Zar, is a graduate of Salmen High School, and will attend Southeastern Louisiana University to study criminal justice and psychology.
The 2010 Scholarship Dinner was held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Bayou Oaks Plantation, home of Chuck and Kay Sabadie in Slidell. Each graduating seniors from St. Tammany Parish Public Schools was awarded a $5,000 scholarship to the four-year college/university of their choice for their academic excellence and community service.
